AE9-213 - Darby Bowfront Chest

The intention behind this piece was to create a smaller, elegant chest for the bedside or sofa side. It is in the style of a very fine but simple Scandinavian Biedermeier case in burled wood, which Thomas had admired at auction. To this form he added a faceted foot from a Scottish Arts and Crafts cabinet- another example of converging interests which produce a blended design. A special decorative feature is the acorn motif of the antiqued brass hardware- delicate acorn key covers over the escutcheons, and newly designed acorn drawer pulls to go with them.
